After the success of the Fear Street trilogy on Netflix, will the Shadyside saga have a sequel? Ended with Fear Street Part 3: 1666 released last Friday on the platform, the saga officially has no new opus planned for the moment. But an intriguing scene in the middle of the final credits opens the door to other things. A Fear Street 4 ? Maybe even more, as director Leigh Janiak suggests to IndieWire . She does indeed seem interested in developing a Shadyside franchise, a true MCU- style Netflix Horror Universe :
“One of the exciting things about Fear Street is the fact that the universe is big and allows for a lot of things. One of them, which I talked about before I got hired, was that here we have the potential to create a Marvel [Cinematic Universe] Horror Universe, in which we would find slasher killers from many different eras. Going further in her reasoning, she clarifies: ” I have good hope that the public likes it enough so that we can start to build [more]. We can think of another trilogy, of independent films, or even of TV shows. It doesn’t matter if you call it TV or movie. That’s the beauty of Netflix. Fear Street is kind of a new hybrid thing and I’m excited to do other things with it. “
It will be recalled that the three parts of Fear Street (1994, 1978 and 1666) put online in July on the platform, are based on the books of RL Stine, a literary saga which has about fifty volumes for the original, to which we can add another fifty volumes in derived sagas …
